Much of the hype surrounding the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s annual Men’s Basketball Tournament concerns the fact that the single-elimination match-ups are a massive collection of upset victories and close, down-to-the-wire contests. When President Obama announced that his Final Four consisted of the quartet of top seeds, he was widely criticized for being “too cautious”. Apparently he had missed the memo explaining that the higher ranked teams are always in danger of elimination.
